HOOPOE

130.00

The word ‘Hoopoe’ is pronounced both ‘hu-pu’ and ‘hu-po’ and the bird is said to be named after its call – a loud “oop!” in sets of three. This call isn’t the only noise a hoopoe makes — “char” is a warning; “tii” means the babies want food, and a wheezing sound comes from the female during courtship rituals. With buff-brown body, boldly-patterned black and white wings, a very distinctive long, thin, down-curved, tapering bill and an even more funky crest crowning its head, this exotic looking bird was selected as the national bird of Israel in 2008.

This quirky and distinctive looking Hoopoe bird bookmark is a must-have, if you are a book lover, or could be the best gift to someone you know is!
