SWAN (Skilled Workforce Advancing Nation) Livelihood is a Delhi-based Social Enterprise with a mission to empower workforce through its specially designed training programmes and counseling sessions. It started Its operations in 2020 with a primary focus on the youth employability programme, on equipping them with employable skills for the Retail Industry, resulting in successful employment as sales associates and cashiers in Delhi/NCR.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic severely disrupted Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, leading to job losses and challenges for young individuals. In response, SWAN Livelihood conducted an extensive survey to understand the specific difficulties faced by various groups, including those from lower socio-economic backgrounds, college students, and working professionals. Through strategic partnerships and stakeholder support, SWAN successfully made a positive impact through experiential learning & mentoring sessions extending their reach to rural villages in Uttarakhand.

Recognizing that grassroots communities were unaware of government assistance programs and policies during the pandemic, SWAN collaborated with the Mission Shakti program of the Uttar Pradesh Government in 2021. Together, they provided training to marginalized women workers employed in various factory areas of Delhi/NCR. These women, from families severely affected during the lockdown, gained knowledge about government schemes and application procedures. In 2022, SWAN’s work also included experiential learning workshops, mentoring sessions, collaborations with grassroots organizations, and training of the trainer (ToT) programs.

In response to the massive migration caused by COVID-19, SWAN acknowledges the need to empower rural communities and create sustainable livelihood opportunities. Since 2024, the  the organization focused on empowering rural youth and building the capacity of micro women entrepreneurs through developmental consultancy work aiming to provide livelihood opportunities, uplifting the rural communities, and reducing the need for migration, contributing to sustainable growth and development.
